Hear what our community has to say...

The exciting thing about regenerative agriculture is how much hope it brings to combatting desertification. We as a species have so many tools, techniques and proven examples available to us to make a positive impact on our environment simply by getting involved with regenerative activities in our area.
The regenerative practices taking shape around Austin, Texas fueled by the passions of Desmond and Victoria at Fertile Foods has been contagious! People they connect with are excited to be making a difference by changing dry, depleted, rocky dirt into lush oasis teaming with new wildlife simply by restructuring how rain water is collected and preserved in the soil.
I feel so fortunate to be here, now at this time in our story when we are inundated with how awful everything and everyone is…regenerative agriculture is changing people at a core level and reigning hope with every drop of rain that falls.

Fertile foods has seeded so much hope and possibility in my life! For 30 years I've lived on rocky caliche-laced soil that's almost impossible to dig. I hauled in some garden soil and planted a few native plants early on, but the dream of having an in-ground vegetable garden here, let alone a food forest, seemed an impossible one. And then... I attended my first tree planting event at Fertile Foods farm! As a completely green volunteer (no pun intended) I got an immediate invitation to gather one of the little fruit trees, a shovelful of enriched soil and some mushroom block, and started planting one of the berms!
To say I left inspired that day would be an understatement, and I could hardly wait to return to the farm for another planting a few weeks later! I was catalyzed, and began almost immediately working with a permaculture team to create a similar project on my land.
Since that October day, Desmond and Victoria have supported our efforts with interest, advice and encouragement. What a pair of bright lights they are! We are hugely blessed to have them, and their stewardship and community-building example, right here partnering with us on the Edward's Plateau of Central Texas!

Fertile Foods is Amazing! I have learned so much about farming, tree planting, and sustainability from my time spent at Fertile Foods. The Excitement and Care Desmond and Victoria share with People, Animals, and the Earth is truly special. Anyone who loves gardening, nature, sustainability and enjoys a loving community should check out Fertile Foods. You will be happy you did!
